Residential Counselor
Do you love teenagers? Are you willing to get into the trenches with these kids and model Christ as they try to change their lives for the better? If so, Salem Ranch may be the ministry for you. We are a non-profit, biblically-based, 100 acre residential ranch for teenage boys between 12-18 years old. We currently have need for a full-time residential counselor or houseparent couple. Job Description
Residential Counselor

1. Cottage Responsibilities
a. Responsible for approximately 6-10 youth during the evening hours.
b. Mentor youth through personal, relational, and educational issues utilizing a Scripture-based approach.
c. Assist youth in developing meaningful relationships with peers and adults.
d. Discuss with youth how their past lifestyle has affected their present condition.
e. Provide youth the tools they need to replace poor behavioral patterns with redemptive patterns of living.
f. Provide firm, yet grace-based approach in living with youth on a daily basis.
g. Communicate with families as necessary to discuss progress of youth.
h. Maintain a clean living standard in the cottage and hold youth responsible to that standard.

2. Facility Responsibilities
a. Participate in routine maintenance activities as needed.
b. Be actively involved with the normal operations of the ranch.
c. Form positive working relationships with other staff.

3. Treatment Responsibilities
a. Be an integral part of the overall team of staff in setting weekly goals for each youth as they progress through the program.
b. Attend weekly cottage meeting.
c. Foster growth intellectually, physically, socially, relationally, and spiritually among youth in the cottage.
d. Teach and develop appropriate social skills among youth.
e. Assist each youth in forming and developing appropriate goals for a successful transition home.
