Counseling

The Ranch Program uses a Christian counseling and training approach with all youth. The behavioral problems of each youth are addressed with a family teaching model emphasizing simplicity, immediacy, fairness, training, discipline and encouragement. The spiritual problems of each youth are addressed in devotions, Bible studies, counseling, chapel, church, Sunday school, youth group attendance and individual discipling.

An essential element of the Ranch program is the  involvement of each youth in a wide variety of activities that  not only support the behavioral and spiritual approaches but as well address the needs of each boy academically, vocationally, socially, and physically. Our aim is to weave together activities, counseling, teaching, personal relationships, and the involvement of parents to create an “arena” for positive change.

Individual Therapy
Each youth receives individual therapy from a Master’s level counselor at least once a week. This is a time for each youth to be discipled from Scripture concerning their spiritual needs and their response to the Ranch Program in general.

Family Involvement
The Ranch Program requires strong family involvement. Families must commit to being actively involved during the stay of their son at the Ranch. We expect parents to complete an appropriate parenting program. At least three times during the year that a youth is at The Ranch Program parents will be expected to travel to
Salem for a family retreat.
