We are much more than a boarding school or boot camp.

The Salem Ranch, also known as the Salem Children’s Home, was founded by the State of Illinois in 1896. Though their philosophy has changed through the years, the mission has not. Salem is dedicated to helping boys in trouble. Originally dedicated to orphans, Salem now focuses on helping teen boys and their parents to survive the most difficult years of their lives.
In the simplest terms, Salem is a boarding school dedicated to the helping boys in Illinois and the Midwest. In practice, we are a Christian boys school that offers boot camp and extended programs for boys in need of discipline and guidance. Our staff includes doctors, farmers, counselors, and horsemen, and all are dedicated to helping troubled teens. If your child is in need of a radical change, the Salem ranch can help. We’re not just a boarding school or boot camp. Instead, we are the best last chance for teens to turn their lives around.
