I was able to turn my life around

BY T.J.

I first came to Salem back at the end of October, and I was a mess. I think for the first month I barely talked to anyone and really kept to myself. I felt totally isolated in every way: I missed my frineds, my family, and did not believe in God. I grew up in the typical Christian family that went to church every weekend, but I still was far from Him.

I knew the typical Sunday School answers just like everyone does who grows up in a Christian family. In the months leading up to me coming to the ranch, I was a out of control. I did what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it. I think the only reason I ever went to my youth group was so my parents wouldn’t yell at me. Over time, I started to open up and talk to a few guys and that’s how it was for me the first couple of months. During that time, I felt like there was something missing, and I needed something to fill that void in my life. Once I accepted the fact that I was not in control of my life, I gave God control. I really started to change.

It says is Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in the Lord with all of your heart, do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths right.

As soon as I trusted in Him, my life started to change, and my troubles didn’t seem so huge. With God’s help I have been able to turn my life around. Now instead of living for what I want to do, I live to glorify Him.

I thank all the people that God has placed in my life and that support Salem Ranch in anyway because without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to change.
